Anthony Quinn's film and stage career spanned more than six decades and he will always be remembered as the consummate actor. As a visual artist, he practiced several art mediums simultaneously. He is best known for his expressionistic portraits in which the painter meticulously combined the energy and dynamic of modern abstract art. He was also an ardent sculptor, experimenting with a variety of materials including marble, bronze, steel and wood.

He was born under the gunfire of the revolution in Chihuahua, Mexico in 1915 to a half-Irish father and a Mexican-Indian mother. Although he painted and sculpted since the age of six, it was not until the 80's that Anthony discovered he could have another career as an artist. He had always sculpted small pieces of stone and wood he found while he was working on field locations in the deserts of North Africa and in the Middle East. In the 80's, he began to enlarge these "maquettes" into full-size sculptures and would transform the objects - which most people will consider just rock and stones, into works of art. In everything he saw, he found beauty.

"He ended up acting", says Quinn's wife Katherine, "but his real passion was drawing and painting". Anthony saw beauty in the simplest things and the people who made their small part of the world more beautiful. Over the years Anthony drew, painted and sculpted upwards of 5,000 works. He eventually settled in Rhode Island and spent his time with his family walking the beaches, riding bicycles and continuing to create paintings and sculptures on his property in Bristol until his passing in 2001.

All the artwork is available for sale. A portion of the proceeds will go to the Anthony Quinn Foundation.
