Exhibition - Anthony Quinn: What am I? ¿Qué soy?

The Museo de las Americas is thrilled to announce "Anthony Quinn: What am I? ¿Qué soy?", a captivating art exhibition opening on the busiest First Friday of the year in Denver's Art District on Santa Fe.

Running from August 2 to September 22, 2024, this exhibition celebrates the rich and multifaceted artistic career of Anthony Quinn, the first Mexican-American Academy Award winner. Curated by Yolanda Fauvet, the showcase delves into Quinn’s remarkable storytelling ability as both an actor and a visual artist.

Visitors will be treated to a stunning collection of Quinn’s self-portraits, including those created while embodying various characters. The exhibition underscores his artistic versatility and explores themes of identity, culture, and his deep passion for the arts.

The thought-provoking title, "What am I? ¿Qué soy?", harks back to a poignant childhood moment when Quinn first questioned his own identity—a question that sparked a lifelong journey reflected in his diverse body of work. Fauvet emphasizes that Quinn’s art provides a rich dialogue with societal labels and his dual nationalities, offering profound insights into both historical and contemporary discussions on identity.

This special exhibition is organized in collaboration with the Anthony Quinn Estate and Katherine Quinn, President of the Anthony Quinn Foundation.

Join us for the opening reception on Friday, August 2, 2024, from 6:30 to 9:00 pm, with formal remarks at 7:00 pm. Register here for this free event.

We look forward to celebrating the legacy and artistic genius of Anthony Quinn with you.
