Museo de las Americas, Denver, CO, USA

Opening during the busiest First Friday of the year in the Art District on Santa Fe, the Museo de las Americas presents Anthony Quinn: What am I? ¿Qué soy?

This exhibition celebrates Anthony Quinn, the first Mexican-American Academy Award winner, showcasing his multifaceted artistic career. Curated by Yolanda Fauvet, the exhibition explores Quinn’s storytelling prowess as both an actor and visual artist.

Featuring Quinn’s self-portraits, including those created while in character, the exhibition highlights his versatility in various mediums and themes of identity, culture, and passion for his craft.
The exhibition runs from August 2 to September 22, 2024, with an opening reception on August 2, from 6:30-9:00 pm.

The title, What am I? ¿Qué soy?, references a childhood moment when Quinn questioned his identity. This query led to a lifelong exploration reflected in his art. Fauvet notes that Quinn’s work reveals his dialogue with societal labels and personal dual nationalities, offering insights into both past and present identity conversations.

This exhibition is organized by guest curator Yolanda Fauvet in collaboration with the Anthony Quinn Estate and President of the Anthony Quinn Foundation, Katherine Quinn.

Opening Reception: Friday, August 2, 2024 6:30–9pm
